Car scratch removal in Newmarket
Most scratches people live with never went through the paint. They sit in the clear coat, and a machine polisher with the right compound takes them out. No repainting, no body shop, no waiting a week for your car back. Vlad does the work himself, one car at a time.
What scratch removal fixes
- Light and moderate scratches in the clear coat
- Scuffs from bumpers, shopping carts, brushes and branches
- Swirl marks from automatic car washes and bad wash technique
- Paint transfer from another vehicle or a garage post
- Key marks that did not reach the base coat
What it doesn't fix
- Deep scratches that went through the paint to primer or metal — those need a body shop, and we will tell you honestly
- Dents, chips or cracked paint
- Rust that has already formed in the scratch
How the scratch removal process works
- 1
Assess
The scratch is examined and tested. A fingernail check and close inspection show whether it stayed in the clear coat.
- 2
Clean and prep
The panel is cleaned and taped off so only the damaged area is worked on.
- 3
Machine buffing
Compound and polish are worked in stages with a machine polisher until the scratch is gone or reduced as far as the paint allows.
- 4
Refine and protect
The area is refined to match the gloss of the surrounding paint and sealed.
How long it lasts
The repair is permanent — the scratch is physically removed, not hidden. The polished area will age the same as the rest of the paint.
Every scratch is different, so scratch removal is quoted from your photo — firm, the same day. Rock-chip touch-up paint is also available, starting at $170. See full pricing →
Common questions
Can any scratch be buffed out?
No. Scratches that stayed in the clear coat can be removed or heavily reduced by machine buffing. Scratches that went through the paint to primer or bare metal need repainting at a body shop. Send a photo and you will get an honest answer before any money changes hands.
How do I know if a scratch is through the clear coat?
Run a fingernail across it. If your nail glides over, it is almost certainly in the clear coat and can be polished out. If your nail catches firmly, or you can see white primer or grey metal in the scratch, it is too deep for buffing.
How much does scratch repair cost in Ontario?
A body shop respray of a single panel typically runs several hundred to over a thousand dollars. Buffing out a clear-coat scratch costs far less because nothing is repainted — VGZ quotes from photos, so you know the price before booking. Rock-chip touch-up paint starts at $170, and full polishing starts at $280.
